![]() Let's get down to the most important order of business: What new features and improvements are included in Diablo 2: Resurrected that weren't around in the original? Diablo 2: Resurrected gameplayīlizzard has stated that while Diablo 2: Resurrected will take "full advantage of today’s modern gaming hardware" the hack-and-slash gameplay of twenty years ago has been preserved - albeit with a few modern tweaks.Īnd for those who want a trip down memory lane, the legacy toggle will allow you to play the title in "the original 800 x 600 experience." Diablo 2: Resurrected improvements For example, you're playing on PC you can only adventure alongside other players on the same platform. Unfortunately, crossplay isn't currently possible in Diablo 2: Resurrected. While there is cross-buy between PS4 and PS5 as well as Xbox Series X and Xbox One, if you wanted to transfer your character from PS5 to Nintendo Switch you'd have to buy two separate copies of the game. ![]() Plus, you will have to purchase Diablo 2: Resurrected on each individual system. In order to do this, you will need to have your account linked on all the systems that you wish to carry progression across. ![]() No matter what platform you're playing on you are able to transfer your characters and loot from one platform to another. These consoles are the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch. If those are accompanied by changes in netcode, the console versions are going to be a big vulnerability for them.It was confirmed prior to release that players can enjoy cross-platform progression between PC and consoles. E.g., you cast a skill at a default location on console you select items a little differently you interact with objects a little differently. Things I would expect to be different on the console in the netcode are changes to have that code more closely mirror console actions and make the game more responsive for console players. I hope the developers aren't relying on the difficulty of packet manipulation from consoles clever debuggers are just going to find the part of the game code that puts the packets together and encrypts them to send out. (If it weren't, there's no reason a PS4 player couldn't connect to a PC server!)Ĭonsole debuggers are pretty accessible, and if there are obvious bugs to exploit, they're going to be exploited. Not because I really need that feature, but because I'm afraid the client-server relationship is being re-worked and tweaked a bit for console play, which is a dangerous thing to do with a game that was notorious for closed-bnet dupe exploits. Yeah, I'm a little alarmed at the lack of crossplay. I think people are thinking that this would be considered cross play, when it isn't. So I can play online with users on the current platform I am on, then get off and switch over to another platform and play with users on that platform. You can play your character between platforms though and all the progression will stay. So PC can play with PC, PS5 with PS5, etc. And I think this is where the confusion is coming from. ![]() You can only play with people on the current platform that you are on at launch, because no cross play. You can import a single player save from D2 over to D2R but not a character from. I keep seeing people saying it's only for single player characters saved online, but I think they're confusing the information that is out there, because nothing I've read or watched has stated that it's only for single player. From everything that I have seen, it will support cross progression for your online characters.
